14 May 2011 - Took Grandma, Grandpa, Shayla, and the rest of our clan up to Talkeetna (a small town south of Denali) for the day. We stopped for second breakfast at the Talkeetna Roadhouse (
http://www.talkeetnaroadhouse.com/), which was featured on the Food Network's television show Man vs. Food. The food was excellent, and the waitress gave the Skjo a new nickname -- Gunnar the Runner, as we spent the majority of our time chasing him throughout the cafe. After eating, we walked down to the Susitna River where we threw rocks, watched birds with Grandpa, and got muddy. It was cloudy, but we were patient enough that we got to see a glimpse of Mt. McKinley! Grandma's favorite part, of course, was stopping to buy Alaska fabric at Sylvia's Quilt Depot in Wasilla.
