Byron Glacier - Chugach National Forest
9 Oct 2010 - We were invited by another family to go hike the Byron Glacier Trail, located in the Chugach National Forest about 50 miles south of Anchorage. The drive down alone made the trip worthwhile as you take the Seward Highway as it runs alongside the Turnagain Arm, one of the branches of the Cook Inlet. We stopped at Bird Point as it was high tide and you can often see Beluga whales from there, but no such luck on this trip. We continued down to the Byron Glacier Trailhead, and then took the one mile hike (pushing a stroller mind you) into country that you would swear is only accessible to those willing to backpack in twenty miles through rough country. ReplyDeleteSounds like you guys need an ATS (all-terrain stroller). The photos look awesome - and what a view from your front porch! We're definitely coming to visit...when we have enough cold-weather gear...
